STI Custom Competition Rifle – Kahles K16i – Geco .223 63grs – 300m

I´ve been in Philippsburg today to zero my Rifle and to see, where I have to aim at 300m. What should I say – I’ve been very pleased! First, I’ve been at the 100m range to zero the scope with the Geco .223 63grs. This ammo performed best at 300m last year with my rifle. That was easy and done fast. The result looked like that after zeroing (flyer high right was the first shot, then came the group low. After that, I corrected by one click up and the group in the middle came last): Continue reading “STI Custom Competition Rifle — Kahles K16i — Geco .223 63grs — 300m”

Kahles K16i – 1-6×24 Abs. SI-1

Though I announced, that I´ll get a Helia5 from Kahles, I got now a K16i! Actually, the K16i should only be available for public authorities in Germany. But the great success in the 3-Gun market of the US brought Kahles to the decision to make the scope also available to the public in Germany. Good decision!

But first, before I describe my subjective opinion about the scope – the hard facts:

  • Field of view (ft/100yds) 127-20,1
  • Exit pupil (inch) 0,374-0,157
  • Eye relief (inch) 3,74

  • Twilight factor (DIN 58388) 3,1-12
  • Impact pt. Corr. Per click (inch/100yds) 0,54

Faktormessung .223

Maybe interesting for some of you -here are some Chrono results of some .223 Ammo out of the 16,75″ STI AR. First measurement I did outdoor in Philippsburg with a L&S Chrono, second one was indoor with a Chrony with LED lights. The noticeable differences between both measures may result of different comps (nordic tac / L&S vs. Arredondo and Chrony) or maybe my Chrony measures a little bit fast. Truth maybe anywhere in the middle…

Concerning precision, the Geco 55grs and 63grs and the S&B 55grs Box are my favorites at 50m. At 100m, the Geco 55grs looked best, S&B I need to test on 100m.

Kahles K624tt auf STI AR15 – erster Test

I gave the K624tt a first try today on my STI AR15. Zeroed it at 50m on my home range, to make it easier then on the 100 and 300m range in Philippsburg. What a fantastic scope! Sharp and very high contrast. Precise adjustment. Fine arts! Unfortunately, I have to return it to Kahles after my tests. I really would like to keep it…
